The City manager is still working in the transfer market to bring in new players before the window closes at the weekend.
But ahead of the Carling Cup tie at Bristol City Eriksson has made it very clear he wants several players to go.
He confirmed: "A few players are in negotiations with other clubs with our permission."
Darius Vassell, Georgios Samaras and Bernardo Corradi are the three most likely to leave.
Eriksson said: "There are a lot of rumours not just of Darius Vassell going but some of the others.
"There are others who will leave, we will see over the next few days.
"We have a few players, three or four, who are in discussions with other clubs. I am sure something will happen.
Negotiations
"It is only fair, it is not good to have too many players who are not playing football."
Corradi is believed to be in negotiations with Siena over a return to Italy, while fellow striker Samaras could leave too.
Vassell has rejected moves to Besiktas and Derby, but it is possible the Premier League's bottom club could make another approach.
Eriksson also wants to find new clubs for Danny Mills and Paul Dickov.
The former England manager added: "I have spoken to some of the players here who still have contracts but are not in the team.
"You have to be fair and tell them that they will not play much football if they stay here.
"It is professional and correct to tell them now rather than at Christmas time."
Eriksson, who has already spent around £40million, has been linked with Brazilian Inter Milan striker Adriano and Portugal international Nuno Gomes, but would only say: "We are working hard on transfers, something will happen but Friday is very close.
"I will not comment on names that have been suggested, we will see on Friday."

How many of us would work for half of our salaries somewhere else, just because we werent given anything interesting to do. I know its not exactly the same, but Im trying to burden some of the blame away from the players...mind you some of them deserve no loyalty at all as they fleece the game for all they can, but I dont think in all honesty that can be said for Vass, Mills, Dickov and Corradi. They are honest enough (diving aside Corradi!) proffessionals and are in their right to press to have their contracts honoured.
Still it would be nice to see some of them out the door and make way for new faces.
Im really surprised Sven really isnt interested in Darius after he really loved him for England. Makes you really think that Sven thought the England national team was bobbins doesnt it. The fact that he had Vass in his best 22 who cant get onto the City bench 3 yrs later, added to his "England didnt have an Elano" comment...I bet he really thought England were cack!!!

Sven is certainly building for the future and this is great to see as it implies he wants to stay with us for some years to come.

Samaras is too big a risk for him....Pearce lost his job because of Samaras and Corradi.
The £5.5m we paid for him is in the past...that debt has gone now, we have started afresh. It was obvious he wasn;t good enough and had the worng attitude given he went on strike for his past club, heerenveen. We need players that will run from end to end for the whole 90 mins, players that will join the attack but then defend whent he opposition attack. Samaras does not even bother to attack, let alone defender. He looks like a fish out of water.
I think a loan move elsewhere may be a good idea. If he scopres goals then heis value will rise and he may even be given a second chance by Sven.
