That was the promise of the new Blues boss after his side's stylish opening day win at West Ham United.
No sooner had Eriksson had the first laugh at the expense of his `stupid critics' that he was promising more of the same easy on the eye manner from his City slickers.
And if he has his way, the Swede revealed he will be boosting the squad with yet another three new faces before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
He expects to bring in an experienced goalkeeper before Derby County's visit on Wednesday night, has still not given up on Aussie Mark Bresciano at Palermo, and wants either another defender or striker, particularly if Livorno follow up initial interest in Bernardo Corradi or Middlesbrough bid for Georgios Samaras. who wasn't in the eighteen that travelled to London.
Eriksson was back on the transfer trail on Sunday morning just hours after two of his new boys Rolando Bianchi and Geovanni had scored the goals that earned the Blues a 2-0 win at Upton Park.
But he still had time to bask in the opening day victory that confounded those who criticise and harp on about England.
Brilliant
"For the first 25 or 30 minutes and the last 20 minutes we played brilliant football and created many chances," he observed. "We have said to the rest of the league `here we are'.
"I was a little surprised how well we played and we will get even better than that.
"Wednesday is another game and there is no guarantee we will wil it just because we played well in this one. The players know that already because I told them straight after the match. What we have done is given ourselves a platform."
Eriksson added: "It was an absolutely perfect day. Our fans appreciated it, I think, and now I want more of the same against Derby. I feel relaxed and happy.
"I know I have bought good players to City who will get better and better.
"In Martin Petrov and Elano, you are buying players who are used to international football. They have experience. They can keep the ball and play with a bit of fantasy."
Eriksson had special praise for Micah Richards.
"Micah is fantastic. He must be one of the strongest players I have ever seen. He is quick and good on the ball. We are very lucky to have a player like that."

SGE spot on. Looks like McLaren now has his central defender magnificent Micah. Hope Shreks injury is nothing trivial.

what a perfect start to a great new season aye guys, couldnt of got any better, urrm no im wrong it will get better, my pompey fan buddies down here are absolutely up for the 15th so when we end up with a new keeper ready for Derby it really will only get better.
CTID.
Lmao, they only got 1 striker.
Experienced manager who has seen it all before. He will not get over excited when we win or smash the teapot when we lose.
We are calm, we are ready....
Well almost ready!!
What a fantastic start for us.I think we need to bolster up the back, but on the whole it was a taster of the good things to come.CTID AND BEYOND
Hope the Bresciano thing comes off. Johnson get caught out a few times on Saturday, too lightweight at the moment I think. Expect Derby to come with spoiling tactics on Wednesday, Injury faining, taking time for throw ins, goal kicks etc. We've just got to use the ball effectively when we get it which I'm sure the new boys will do.
I like Brian Hortan more than my Wife.
perfect start and shrek is out lol
all we need now is distin to empty ronaldo lol
I actually laughed when we started singing "City are back"so soon. But as the goal went in and you listen now to all the comments from wham fans on the website where they reckon "Citeh are going to be a force this season"etc. I joined in singing the next time after we scored "City are back".It was a joy from start to finish.Except in the Queens pub before hand where 20 city fans were been abusive singing and taughting the west hams, even that ended perfectly with the city fans been chased and Punched out of the pub by a pack of hammers fans no older than 18/19 years of age ,which in away was the best thing to happen leaving true fans to enjoy the atmosphere.
Morning everyone. We've got to keep our feet on the ground here; one swallow does not make a summer etc. But the next few weeks can give us an indication of how things have changed. City of the recent past would follow up a good away win with a terrible home performance next match. Games against the better teams in the division have tended to be more about huff and puff and less about quality. The upcoming games against Utd and The Arsenal will give this team a chance to show us that we can commpete by playing footie. I'd rather we did win, but I do think that in these two games, the performance will be even more important than the result.
Well played City. A dream start to the opening weekend. City win away from home and Bacon face can't overcome 10 man Reading at OWE Trafford..hee..hee.
Although nothing changes with players being sent off if their not winning, still, their only one poor season away from bankcruptsy. Long live the Sven revolution.
had a chat with Sven after the match and what a nice guy.Get you Sweden flags made now.
this is all fantasy
3 months ago - no manager, no money, no prospects
now - SGE, Frank, 8 new players, wads of cash, thrilling football, pinch me am i dreaming
A striker or a defender ! :}
So laid back "for sure"
After watching ten minutes of the match on saturday i nearly wet myself, after twenty i had lost all control of my bodily functions, it was THAT good. If Sven is saying things are going to get better please someone pass the straight-jacket! You have to applaud Sven for his elano comment. He's right to say it too. England don't have anyone of his or petrov's quality. City do. The english press will be eating out of his hands if we win against derby AND the scum. CITY TIL I DIE!
"Giggsy: Let's start with a bang!" said M.E.N. article
You would have thought taggart would have explained what the welsh wally meant better to poor wayne.....
I guess they dont have pictures on here to follow tho!
Wow if we could play sexy football and finish in the top half of the table that would make my season. But I have a feeling we could really challenge for Europe this season. And lets have a damn good go at the rags this coming Sunday. I'm in heaven after the hellish displays last season.Lets beat Derby then win the Derby. Who said 5 points from the first 5 games would be a good start? Maybe they were talking about the Rags!
Well done Sven. Make them all eat their words.
Spot on Sven, lets hope this really is a new city, gone are the days where we pull off a fantastic win only to faulter against a lesser team the following game - all we need now is for someone to stand on tevez and the winker and the Derby is ours for the taking - come on you blues
What a joy to see City playing passing, exciting football. Micah handled everything WHU tried, especially Ashton (who I rate). Very few scares at the back and (I watched the match live on the internet) the attacking play was so intelligent. Very pleased that Rolando (oh oh oh oh) got off the mark. And finally Elano - Zinedine - Blumer is going to terrify the Prem.
We need to get a new midfielder in, somebody like Joe Cole would be nice.
I support City as much as anyone - am old enough to have seen Frank Swift play! - but to wish another player serious injury whatever team he plays for- sorry can't go with that and I hope the majority of City fans will see it my way.
Well, well, well two goals away from home in one game and without reply, can't remember the last time that happened.....Shame about Englands most over rated rag breaking his ankle on day one...Talk about the perfect weekend. here'e to more of the same ...
has anyone seen the article in the Times about the game on saturday? Martin Samuels almost tries to praise Sven but then reverts to type harping on about England blah,blah,blah...but he did have one good thing to say about Micah Richards "perhaps Steve maclaren has a replacement for the injured John Terry, or even as a replacement for Ferdinands poseur brother in the centre of defence, if he has the guts to do it" even this red eyed united loving journalist realises that Ferdinand is crap! something we City fans have known for years. Wise words from Sven, using the old "take each game as it comes" philosophy and whilst praising the players for a job well done, not letting them get carried away and expecting to just turn up on wednesday to beat Derby. We actually have a manager with tactical nouse and the intelligence to handle players and the muppet media...absolutely Sventastic.
what a start!
great style of play ,pure class , and a team wanting to win.
can go down to the pub without all those rags snickering
i can see my sky blue toupee comming out
