Manchester City

Elano on Eriksson radar

Georgios Samaras
ELANO Blumer is emerging as a leading target for City as negotiations to sign Juventus' Italy Under-21 defender Giorgio Chiellini slow down.

The Blues are interested in 26-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder, who plays in Ukraine for Shakhtar Donetsk - the club who have beaten City to the signature of Olympiacos' Mexican winger Nery Castillo.

City bosses are continuing their pursuit of £8m left-sided defender Chiellini. But with the Blues still fighting to make progress on that front, Sven-Goran Eriksson has now learned that he has a fight on his hands if he wishes to land Serbian giant Nikola Zigic.

The busy Eriksson was also reportedly on the brink of a £7m swoop for Fiorentina's Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov and being tempted by at least two French clubs to part with Georgios Samaras.

Rennes, who bid £1.5m, were the early runners in the race to land Samaras, but now Lens are also said to be interested.

But Samaras' departure will not happen until at least one more hitman has been added to the squad. Racing Santander striker Zigic, meanwhile, is attracting interest from Fenerbahce in Turkey and German side Werder Bremen.

Zigic's displays have caught the eye of teams across Europe, with the 26-year-old netting 13 goals in his first season in La Liga last term. Meanwhile, new City recruit Rolando Bianchi is hoping his move to the Premier League will enable him to win an Italy call-up.

"I really want to wear that Italy shirt," he said. "I want to gain lots of satisfaction here before returning to conquer Italy."

EX-CITY star Gary Owen will be the guest at the Wendover Public House, Wendover Road, Brooklands, next Monday when the local City supporters club branch holds its monthly meeting (8.30pm).

I put a comment on one of the other pages asking the MUEN to tell us where we are upto on the transfer front which as usual was not put on the page - then all of a sudden we get an update - amazing.

Not many quotes from the people who matter thought is there - I thought you had investigative journalists on the spot at Carrington - probably not!!

And I doubt this will get printed either - eh Ed??

I really do hope Sven can clinch a deal with Chiellini. The guy is an excellent player at centreback or leftback, strong and experienced at a still young age.
Pitty we lost out on Castillo, but in Bujinov we could find ourselves another gem. Debuted for Lecce at 15, was probably the most wanted talent 2 years ago when out of the blue Fiorentina signed him. Somehow he never lived up to expectations over there and his career seems to be in a standstill. His character is one of the reasons Fiorentina are ready to sell. I gather with Petrov and Sven at City, he could relish another surrounding and be as good as was expected to be. He can play leftwing or left in midfield.
I am not sure about Zigic as the Spaniards who own him drive his price up. Is not worth more than 10 million.
Finally Elano Blumer is a great player. I just wonder why Shaktar (who we run in to very often lately) wants to sell him. Had a more than decent few games in the Brasilian side that won the Copa. Guess we will sign another 3 or 4 before the window shuts, and we might loose out on a few before that. Yet so far we sign better players than we had.

i wish we would get a move on with the purchase of these new players i for one would pay that little bit extra to secure them. come on sven its not your money

Sign Elano up now. He'd be a terrific aquisition. As for George, i'd let him go, cut the losses and move on. He's tried hard enough but I honestly can't see him being part of the Sven revolution. Think Bojinov would be a good signing, and Zigic too, the signing of both which would surely spell the end for Dickov and Samaras.

Great ,smashing, super,I take it our usual defeat at Anfield will now be a thing of the past.Lookin forward big time, to giving the so called big four an big bloody nose.

its five days since petrov signed, and since we have been linked with approx 12 players, most of those would do a good job for us. i think we all agree we need another 4 or more players so the longer the wait the more likely they will sign in twos or threes, also remember the amounts wanted for players will surely plummet downwards the nearer we get to the end of august, english players that are wanted are likly to be left to last as they already reside in the uk etc and need little if no time to settle in.hold on to your hands there will be at least four more in, and two out before deadline day.

Elano sounds like an interesting one, but i just wonder if this report has any basis in truth about it, given the number of rumours and gossip circulating, and also givem that sven's buys so far haven't been reported in advance and only appeared once the deals were done.
There have been a few mentions of buying Lita..although he looks a good player and is young, i think he has already stated he is happy where he is, and i think that he would be one of those players whose price would be over inflated with a view to scaring buyers away.

With Elano in, other new signings would be pure bonus! Of cours we welcome a defender c,l and maybe a fine high class striker. Then we fight for european cups....

We need at least 4 more players before we play West Ham - even then, they will need a few weeks to bed in. Top ten will be good in the 1st season.

Pursuing these signings is nice, how about capturing a couple of them?

Chiellini, Elano and Elemander would be lovely for this week.

Firzroys reputation as the club insider is on the line...will Elano sign today as he promised, along with the croatian defender he said would sign withing the next 24 hours? As Lloyd Grossman used to say in through the keyhole "Fitzroy...its oooover to you"

Let's get Elano signed up, or someone of his ilk. We need plenty in the creative midfield department. I'd be soprry to see Georgio leave. I have a feeling that, given the right nurture, a decent manager and players around him, he will come good. If we let him go at a loss, he could be back to haunt us!

BlueMorg, North West - Chiellein, Elano, Elmander That´s exactly the three ones i hope for signing. Would be a perfect mix of teamplayers and individuel skill.

Tribal Football is reporting that the deal for Chiellini is at an advanced stage as he has agreed personal terms - we're just waiting to find out exactly how much he'll cost, and that he is also urging Bojinov to join him in the Svennis revolution.

I have a collegue who works in Milan, but follows Juve and he reckons these guys would be a great addition to our squad - he says Chiellini is class and that Bojinov showed moments of greatness, is a little inconsistent but young enough to get better.

Tribal Football also states that Amelia (next in line to Buffon for Italy) is also due for talks.

Hopefully by the end of the week we will have Elano, Chiellini, Amelia and Bojinov available.

The team for West Ham would be - Amelia; Richards, Dunne, Chiellini, Ball; Geovanni, Fernandes, Elano, Petrov; Bianchi, Mpenza; Subs Isaksson, Johnson, Onuoha, Bojinov, Corradi.

Give Fitzroy a break, all he can do is pass on info from his source. They is so much going on that any probable signings could quite easily be delayed by a day or two.

Interesting rumour which suggests that we may be about to bag Chiellini is that Juve are after Heinze. With no CL comp from them, Sad Alex would certainly sell to Juve but they wouldn't be a buyer nor Heinze a mover to them unless Chiellini was on his way so watch this space and let's hope our name fills it!

Fitzroy,

Youve gone quiet my son !!!!!!

If Heinze goes to Juve, then Chiellini will go to liverpool, thats why hes stalling !!!!

Yup, Elano, Elmander and Chiellini works for me too! Samaras has talent, but has smaller plums than a fieldmouse. Never gonna cut it in the hurly burly of the Prem, so if we can stiff someone out of 2.5m or so, I say get rid. Still like to see a battle hardened English yeoman in midfield somewhere though

Let's get that other striker in and get shot of Samaras! He's the biggest waste of money sice Steve Daley!!!!!!!
