City closing in on Chiellini

SVEN-Goran Eriksson looks set to continue his squad rebuilding, after Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri revealed he will let defender Giorgio Chiellini move to Eastlands if he wants to.

Juventus are due to play pre-season friendlies in England and Germany, but Ranieri reports 22-year-old Chiellini may not return to Italy.

"Will he come back to Turin with us? It will depend on him, Manchester City and Juventus," Ranieri told a television company.

"He is an important player, but if he does want to leave then we surely won't keep him against his will."

great left back, would free up Michael Ball who I think would do a good job on the left of midfield and left back when needed. As for a striker, Castillo or Crouch for me. I think we could do with a couple of premiership proven players as none of the sgnings, or anybody being talked about has been there.

Sven will get the right people in. I think the Valencia game could well see the line up that might run out at Upton Park the week after..and that will give us our frst clue as to what we can expect this season.

I'm sad to see Chiellini go I don't know who to blame Chiellini or Ranieri but i wont go into that. He's a good player very powerful runner down the wing although he lacks pace once he runs he's very hard to stop he does alot of running without the ball too up the wing too. hard to knock off the ball because of his strength. He takes part in alot of attacks too so I'd call him a an attacking full back. Big physical presence and very tall he's a bit leggy so he lucks clumsy at times to some people. Italian Under 21 captain in the last Euro Championships and he did alright there too he's quite a character at times on the pitch and thats one of the reasons I like him because of his height he's also very good in the air and wins a hell of alot of headers I'd say thats one of his strongest points, very handy lad on set pieces.

I like the thought of Giorgio Chiellini coming to Manchester City.He is young and it's patently obvious now that Sven is building for the future whilst improving the present position.I can't remember being so keen for the season to start.Just to think we came out of the last home game of the season so annoyed and deflated about what had gone on.I hope as many people as possible renew or purcahse tickets for the first time.We are taking a friend to the Valencia game who lives overseas and has never been to a match so let's hope it's a great atmosphere.There's a party afterwards as well.What more could you want?

A couple of the early editions of the papers (including The Times) are saying that Elano will sign today from Donetsk. That will make up for the disappointment of missing out on Castillo (if that is true)

Pasta and Swedes; Yeah, that's a great idea, lets forget about Petrov as the left winger and use Ball instead! Crazy...............

What we need is a left footed centre half to partner Dunne as Distin did. If he can cover for Ball at left back then great, but we do not need a first choice left back, Ball is a good player and has done very well in a short space of time with us.

If Chiellini is that player then great, he is well respected and looks like he would fit in to the Prem right away.

Chiellini is a great player, already experienced and fysically strong for his age. Can play l-b and c-b. I would also add Drago from Sevilla to the squad. Baines in only if Chiellini-transfer fails.
Looks like we will miss out on Castillo who prefers life in the Ukraine. It will keep Sven busy looking at others.
