The Blues' boss has put out an urgent SOS to all his advisers and scouting contacts to find him right and left wingers.
Eriksson began his first game in charge at Doncaster with Ishmael Miller on the left flank and Darius Vassell on the other side of a four-man midfield but he wasn't impressed - taking them off at half-time.
Now Academy product Miller looks destined for the exit door with Watford and Preston both keen to sign him.
That will mean Vassell convincing Eriksson he is worth keeping as the new boss looks to usher in a new era of wing play once made famous by Mike Summerbee and, more recently, Peter Barnes.
Contract
The big-spending Blues are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid winger Martin Petrov but the wide man they would most dearly like to land is still Ludo Giuly at Barcelona although Nantes winger Christian Wilhelmsson, also on Bolton's wanted list, could also come into the Swede's calculations.
French-flyer Guily, whose contract at the Nou Camp runs out in a year's time, celebrated his 31st birthday last week but his ability and experience far outweigh the age factor.
He is also the kind of leader Eriksson admires, having captained Monaco to the Champions League final in 2003-04 where they lost to Jose Mourinho's Porto.
Madrid, meanwhile, want around £5.5m for the services of 28-year-old Bulgarian ace Petrov though his stay has not been the most productive, scoring twice in 48 outings for them.
"It is important to have width in the side and we are looking at those positions," Sven admitted ahead of the two-match stay in Sweden.
"I think that during the last nine or ten days my staff and I have talked about 100 different players," he said guardedly. "I am not going to name anyone but there are still several positions we need to address."

Sick of hearing this tripe speculation from the MUEN, it makes them look more stupid every time they call say who we're after. They havn't even been close on the first two signings so they then have to generalise the damned obvious that we're looking for a wide man. Oooogh I could crush a grape!!!
Oh and sorry, good morning all!

The players listed/rumoured all look and sound good for various reasons and I hope we can get one or two of them by the end of the week.

As Sven pointed out a few days ago, it takes time to sign a player. What did people on here expect, 10 signings in the first week? Come on, get with the programme and try to think logically.
As for the MUEN. I too am critical at times. However, we are in the close season, nothing much going on (no facts to report - ooh sorry the lads trained yesterday in Sweden, the weather was lovely and everyone had fun!!!!). The MUEN is merely writing reports on what the fans are discussing - possible signings since there are no actual signings at present. If Chris new who we were in negotiations at the moment it may not be best to blurt it out as it may alert other suitors.

"He is a complete player and can do everything, he has a big future."
Excellent, we can bring him on as a defender to secure the win, or as a midfielder to help dominate the opposition or as a striker to get the late equaliser/winner. Buy him Sven, might even help solve your winger problem.
