BSkyB sells City stake

THAKSIN Shinawatra today moved a huge step closer to signing up Sven-Goran Eriksson after BSkyB agreed to sell their stake in City.

The former Thai Prime Minister will take his stake in the club to 66 per cent by buying the satellite TV giant's 9.9 per cent shareholding.

And that will put him within reach of the 75 per cent shareholding he needs to delist the club from the Stock Exchange, which will be enough to convince Eriksson to sign a three-year contract with the Blues.

Shinawatra is expected to reach that target within days, allowing the former England coach to begin plotting City's £50m revival.

Shareholders have until 1pm on July 17 to decide whether to accept his offer of 40p a share, but the former Thai Prime Minister is expected to reach the 75 per cent threshold long before then.

the share holders should sell as fast as poss. the club needs a new direction as the least 35 years wil bear out we need to hit the ground running with a new manager and players asap so come on get selling quick

Sell now! There is no point delaying things. This way the new manager will be in place for the 4th of july and he can start shopping!

Now that Sky have sold, it really is a formality i think. he needs roughly 9 percent out of a remaining 34 percent. That equals just 26 percent of the shares he doesn't own. For simplicity's sake, lets call it 25 percent. I'm sure that 1 in 4 city shareholders will sense the club is on the up with frank at the helm and will therefore sell.

That transaction went through on plusmarkets this morning.

I'm pretty sure the ground work has been done to enure that 75% mark is passed quickly.

Yes, the only way forward is to accept Thaksins offer. The new coach will not come until he has acquired the shares so the City fans that hold the shares (and haven't put any of their cash into the club during all the BAD years) should sell up! Those that don't will have no choice once hw gets 75% because then he can delist the club.

As someone has suggested more than once would it not be useful and interesting information for our local paper to now tell us who the next biggest shareholders are in the pecking order? Perhaps even a spot of editorial speculation on who might be willing to sell and who might be more difficult?

Fantastic news, by Friday we should be ready to go "shopping" and Sven should be officially unveiled. I own a few thousand shares and I for one will not be hesitating to sell them to Frank - the faster he can gain full control the better.
