But the French midfielder is expected to end his Manchester adventure two years early with a move to Spain.
Dabo has been considering his Blues future ever since he was left needing hospital treatment following a training ground brawl involving Joey Barton on May 1.
It rounded off an unhappy season in English football for Dabo, who has admitted that he has had a difficult year in the Premiership.
Even the presence of his younger brother Moussa, who joined Oldham Athletic last summer, and his old friend Mikael Silvestre across the city at Old Trafford have not helped Ousmane settle.
And with Moussa now back in France after having his contract terminated by the Latics last month, Ousmane is set to follow him out of England.
The City midfielder will hold talks with the new manager with Eriksson expected to arrive by the end of the week. Dabo is keen to make a fresh start but will listen to what the new boss has to say.
"If the new man wants me I could change my mind," Dabo said. "But that is a long shot. I feel I will leave."
It is a long way from the optimism Dabo felt when he joined on a three-year contract from Lazio last summer.
The midfielder had been encouraged to come to Manchester by United full-back Silvestre, a team-mate at French club Rennes when the pair were starting out.
Dabo then spent eight years in Italy with Inter Milan, Parma, Atalanta and Lazio.
The difference between the leisurely pace of Serie A and the helter-skelter nature of the Premiership caught Dabo cold, by his own admission.
Blocked
An early-season red card against Reading, followed by a knee injury, kept him out of City's team for three months.
And when he was fit again, the Frenchman found his path back into the side blocked by the emergence of Academy product Stephen Ireland.
His Premiership struggles frustrated him and exasperated the fans and he found it increasingly difficult to hold down a place.
"I haven't had the best of times," Dabo said. "The old boss Stuart Pearce didn't pick me after saying he needed me in the side. Then came the fight with Barton. Ideally, I won't be at City next season.
"I have a lot of contacts in Italy but Spain would be my preferred option."
Even though Barton left to join Newcastle two weeks ago, Dabo is still looking at a move elsewhere.
However, he is likely to still be a Blues player when pre- season training starts next Wednesday.
The woes of Dabo and striker Bernardo Corradi have flagged up just how difficult it is for players raised in Serie A to adjust to the Premiership.
While Corradi flourished in Italy, he floundered in the Premiership, and is now odds-on to make a return home with Torino and former club Parma among the candidates to sign him.
Should City let Dabo and Corradi go? Have your say. Tweet

Goodbye thanks for nothing
Having a whip round for their airfares as we speak
Boo hoo, grossly overpaid Dabo has had a bad time at City. Perhaps he shouldn't have expresssed his desire to play for Marseille (or however it's spelt properly)half way through the season and I might have some sympathy. His first half performance at Preston in the cup is one of THE worst 45 minutes I've ever seen from a City player, and I've seen some bad uns. I for one wont miss him, fanx tara.
No great loss. But isn't it funny, after all the hype last sumer about him joining us? How people forget....
Don't slam the door on your way out.
Irrespective of the Barton episode, Dabo is a complete waste of space. Earned a fortune last season, but couldn't be arsed to break sweat. Get rid at the earliest opporetunity
In answer to the question..........yes definately goodbye.
Both overated players on high salaries that should have done more.
Didnt Mackay say Dabo was one of the best Bosmans from last summer??? That just about says it all!
Bye bye, so sad, farewell.
regardless of what barton did - which is disgraceful.
we can't have a player with that attitude loafing around. before you go though mate, make sure you drag barton to court and teach him a proper lesson.
A big fat yes
Please go asap, you are without doubt the worst City player I have ever seen. And that says it all.!!
I would let Dabo go because he is not up to the pace of premiership football.I would keep Corradi due to the lack of quality service from midfield.
I'm genuinely sorry he got chinned but....Good riddance!!The club and it's supporters owe him absolutely nothing,
because that is exactly what he contributed when he wasn't injured.
Pearce, his scouts and coaching staff now thankfully
gone ought to be strung up for crimes against sport.
go go go.
Purely judged as a City-player, Id say: Yes, he can go and is easy to replace.
He's done his job and got Barton to move on. Now hopefully McKay can actually get us a transfer fee for Dabo to recoup some of his wages!
More evidence that the club should avoid Willie Mackay like the plague. A pity that Ireland has signed up to him.
I said it this time last year that he would be a joke, that he would not be able to adapt to the pace, yet so many were saying "sign him on" without really thinking things through, and chief amongst them was the muppet pearce!!!
If he can sort out somebody to pick up his salary it will be the quickest he has ever moved for us.
It would be interesting for the MEN to stick a poll on this one asking "would City fans like him to stay, Yes or No".
Total waste of space, worse than Corradi and Bradbury combined. Have there been any worse players in the last 20 years?
Waiting to hear from Sven hopefully he'll say goodbye Dabo.
bye
Bye Bye dabo and corradi!!
Don't let us keep you, Dabo. We don't want players that don't want to be here, so do one and take your mate Corradi with you.
think he should go as soon as poss he is a waste of space
