Manchester City

FA charge Ball

Michael Ball

CITY defender Michael Ball has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.

The left-back stamped on Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo in the second minute of Saturday's Premiership clash at Eastlands.

City's official website, www.mcfc.co.uk, say the Blues left back has until 6pm on Wednesday to answer the charge.

Ball said: “I deeply regret what I did and have accepted the FA’s charge without hesitation. I have also sent a personal apology to Cristiano.

“My action should not be seen on a football pitch and I know we have a responsibility at Premier League level to set a good example to the whole football community.

“I am proud of my disciplinary record and have never been sent off in my professional career.”

and when is the FA and their cheating match officials going to clamp down on Paul Scholes? ok he does get disciplined occassionally but by the HECK he gets away with more than he gets picked up on! Furthermore why is Ronaldo continuing to get away with his persistent diving or for that matter Rooney's over the top challenges.ITS THE SAME OLD STORY OF MUFC BEING ABOVE THE LAWS OF FOOTBALL and SADLY THE REST OF HAVE TO ACCEPT IT! MORE SAD IS THE FACT OUR PLAYERS DONT GET DEFENDED BY THEIR MANAGER JUST CONDEMNED NEVER PROTECTED WHATSOEVER CAN ANYONE WONDER WHY JOEY BARTON IS BRASSED OFF? PEARCE DO THE DECENT THING AND RESIGN?

Just wondered if anyone noticed Fergie's comments in The Sun today regarding MB? "Didn`t know if it was instructions or just overly hyped up", or words to that effect. Hate to remind you Mr Ferguson, but you witnessed a certain Irish thug end the career of a fellow professional and you did what about it? Your club captain I seem to recall? The most notorious and brutal enforcer of the modern game that snarled, kicked and punched his way through years at your club?

I have it on good authority that the Post Office is going to print an issue of Michael Ball stamps.

Bitter Berties at it again!

The question of sympathetic refereeing doesn't seem to me to be an issue in Sarurday's derby match - the referee seemed to miss most of what was going on! But I think "sympathetic" officiating is a problem and I think Utd have benefitted, and will continue to benefit, from it. Then again, so do Arsenal, though surprisingly Chelsea do not to anything like the same degree. Perhaps the two most outrageous decisions of the season, however, were the two from which West Ham benefitted against Blackburn. It is worth reflecting that without these two decisions (a penalty that certainly wasn't and a "goal" that never came within a yard of the line if I remember correctly) Wigan would not now be in a relegation place, and that this,as much as the Teves affair, may cost Wigan their place in the premiereship.

just a thug like barton get shut and at least 9 others pearce as well

Obviously this was to be expected. But looking at the finer details, the fact that he has been charged of violent conduct is a result for us. If he was charged with serious foul play he would have faced getting a much longer ban than he will now get. He will therefore not be banned for as long as thatcher was, for example.

Ball fully deserves this. It was a terrible foul. How sick am I of this team? Pearce, you're a disgrace.

This is scandalous! Our boy gets his laces tangled, stamps on some dirt to free them, the ref makes the right decision and the FA want to make something out of nothing!

Report This Reply

Ted, you and the rest are getting very boring. You'll be posting 'Pearce Out' tripe on the business stories next. Pearce hasn't done a great job, nobody could argue with that, but unless you can think of a replacement who's willing or able or available to do the job, is there any point in getting rid? Our glass is half full, not half empty. Almost every club in the top flight, including those around us in the table, and definitely all those going down, have spent far more than we have over the last 12 months. And that is a fact.

A disgraceful challenge. He also dived for the penalty. And I'm a blue too. Money has ruined this great game, it's win at all costs.

surprise surprise with pearce as your boss-imagine having a boss who works for the other side-pearce for the fa-talk about feathering your own nest-lesson one pearce-back your own staff before shopping them..its earns you a little bit of respect...now take the knife out of ballys back..he did what every football fan wanted to do to the diver all season...wish it would have been his head...!

Can't argue with the charge. It's the inconsistancy that I hate. What about all the late challenges by Scholes or the repeated diving?

my goodness what a bitter city fan Mr.Knott is ! Berates Scholes ,Ronaldo etc ,overlooking thuggery by Barton ,Thatcher ,Ball this Season alone!.The only rule Manchester United have is to win trophies ,and yes ,you have to accept that!

Oh what a suprise, i might have guessed this would be pearce's fault as well, some of you (and you know who you are) are as thick as 2 short planks, you're an absolute disgrace. The 192 bus was late today do you think SP had anything to do with it?

bobbyc, not sure ted is a blue, he sure don't support them. but i hear the bbc are planning another series of grumpy old men so he should do ok

Complete Coward ! Stamping on someone on the floor!
I wish Keane would have still been playing for United, Ball would have got some revenge.
1. Please stop going on about diving, in the two derbies in which you attained a total of no points this season, Corradi dived trying to win a penalty and was correctly sent off
2. Ball who shouldnt have even have been on the pitch dived and won a penalty and justice was done when the resultant penalty was saved
3. Scholes is a bad tackler, not a sneak like Ball and Scholes has more skill in his little toe than the failure Ball will ever have.
4. 3-1 1-0 no points for City vs United this season and finally
MUFC - CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND AND WITHOUT QUESTION THE PRIDE OF MANCHESTER.

PS. For you fools who keep going on about Keane, Haaland's career was ended by the other leg not the leg that Keane tackled,Keane did not end Haaland's career, get that into your thick blue heads.
Can you not handle the fact you have not had a world class player at City in over 20 years? and dont dare say Kinkladze.... I am talking WORLD CLASS ie. Robson, Cantona, Keane, Hughes, them sort of players.
MUFC - CHAMPIONS

I know Stuart, why don't you speak to your pals at the Fa and see if they can increase the ban to say five matches. Your cv would look even more remarkable then. PEARCE OUT.

Where was he against Roma at home? Running the show !?
Your deluded ! Bernabia?? SWP, if he was world class, he would be in the Chelsea team.
Your rivals are Villa, West Ham, Fulham. Simple as that. Our rivals are Chelsea and Liverpool and Arsenal, you are a bunch of hypocrites on:
1. The number of out of town supporters, loads post on City outside of the Manchester area.
2. Diving, as I have mentioned in a previous post.
3. Atmosphere, you need to issue scarves to your fans to get an atmosphere going.
4.Calling Keane a thug, look at Barton, Thatcher and Ball.
5. The thing is in this country, nobody like successful people in business or whatever, that is why you are so bitter towards United, you never give the United team any credit especially as they have been far and away the best team in the league this season.
To conclude, your fans are part timers (usually a lot of spare seats at a home match) , your players are rubbish (no goals at hme for 4 months), your team wins nothing (31 years) , you need scarves to get an atmosphere Usually a church like atmosphere at your home games) , you are in a council owned stadium and you have a lot of fans on here who post outside of Manchester when you say that your are the MANCUNIAN club.
You are outnumbered inside and outside of Manchester by Manchester United.
I am starting to understand now why you are so BITTER.
No points v United and Unired CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND. How sweet does that sound?

Andy P

1.) He has admitted the charge, apologised in public and apologised privately. He will accept his punishment, the matter is at an end, move on.

2.) Stand on your right leg, raise your left leg into the air. Now get your 12 stone friend to launched him, or her, self at your RAISED leg with the full force of the their body at about 20 mph. Now your left leg, in the air, will take the full impact. That's not the interesting thing. The interesting thing is the impact this will have on your standing, right, leg which is in no way involved in this exercise, according to you.

Which means that when the rotational force on your pelvis causes both of your cruciate ligaments IN YOUR RIGHT LEG THAT YOU ARE STANDING ON NOT THE LEG THAT WAS KICKED to go at the same time there's no way you can hold me responsible for having attempted this experiment.

If you don't believe me try it.
