The question of sympathetic refereeing doesn't seem to me to be an issue in Sarurday's derby match - the referee seemed to miss most of what was going on! But I think "sympathetic" officiating is a problem and I think Utd have benefitted, and will continue to benefit, from it. Perhaps the two most outrageous decisions of the season, however, were the two from which West Ham benefitted against Blackburn.
