Blues owner John Wardle has been in intense negotiations with an un-named buyer for his stake in the Eastlands outfit, which could deliver some much-needed funds for Pearce to strengthen his squad in the summer.
While talks are still on-going and no announcements are imminent, it is widely expected they will eventually reach a successful conclusion.
Pearce has been kept informed of all developments and, while the former England star is more focused on ensuring his side maintain their recent upturn in results over the remaining four games, the reports he has received from Wardle are positive.
Negotiations
"Negotiations are always difficult but it is looking more likely," he said.
"The money men at the club are dealing with it and if something happens, they will be the first to tell me.
"This football club needs some investment, wherever it comes from, to put some more talent alongside the undoubted talent we have in the squad already."
It has been suggested in some quarters that the protracted negotiations over the successful buy-out at West Ham by a consortium headed by Icelandic businessman Eggert Magnusson was one of the major factors behind the Upton Park outfit's shambolic start to the season.
However, Pearce confirmed that whatever the future holds for City, nothing happening off the pitch has diverted attention away from the on-pitch performance.
"It hasn't distracted me," he said. "We are dealing with fine margins. If you take your eye off the ball you have a problem."
What do you think? Have your say.

The diary for the months May-Aug 2007: -
May - scrape a couple of extra points & secure a mgnificent 15th place.
June - deafening silence at the as everyone disappears on their well earned breaks whicst the fans fret over the rumours that Richards, Johnson, Onouha etc will be tempted by a seat on the bench at Chelsea;
July - squad reassembles with hope and promises of a sparkling season;
August - SP will be 'running the rule' over a number of mega signings, none of which will materialise despite desperate last minute negotiations which collapse just as the transfer window shuts but not before he has secured the services of a number of unknown foreign 30+yr olds.
Please prove me wrong.

All the vibes are that these mystery people are not going to be the answer to our prayers and my impression is that RR might be a better for City. However, we are likely to get what is best for certain vested interests amongst the board / major shareholders.

About what? That some mystery 'still to be named' investor is looking 'more likely' to invest? Where has this £10m figure come from as well? Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all the clubs in the Prem getting Huge cash injections through the television deal? If so then without the so called investment, we should be getting at least £10m. So if this 'investment' does go ahead, we should get even more........I very much doubt it though!

Anybody wondering how no single UK-paper, tabloids or not, werent able to unveil the mystery men? As it is now, all the reports so far seems likely to be ment to sell seasontickets. Its time the board should come clear.

Question - those people who reckon this is a scam to generate season ticket sales - are you "allowed" to make public claims about potential takeovers, investment, etc when you are running a plc? It seems a bit dodgy to me because when this was first announced, the share price went up - I just wonder if there are rules about that sort of thing.

In my opinion we should have around £20m to spend in the summer. £10m from the takeover and £10m from TV revenue, anything less is not good enough. Id like to keep Mpenza, Ball, Beasley and Trabelsi and add to them with Mido £4, N'Zogbia £4m, SWP £12m and if we have anthing left for another wage, Sidwell on a free.

Nice summary. One general problem with all the shareholders is the losses that they are sitting on on their shares.
The whole thing is a whats-it's muddle but money talks...
