JOHN Askey has been named as Macclesfield Town's full time manager following a successful run as caretaker boss.
The Macc legend initially turned an offer, describing the club's decision to offer him the job until the end of the season as a 'disgrace'.
But his record of three wins and only one defeat from eight games left him in a strong position and he decided to accept a revised offer before yesterday's FA Cup clash with Cambridge United.
"I'm very pleased to accept the manager's position at Macclesfield Town, which is a dream come true for me," Askey told the club's website.
Chairman Rob Bickerton was delighted to finally get his man and end a situation that had threatened to undermine Askey's hard work.
On receiving the initial offer, Askey had fumed: "They obviously don't want me.
"I am disappointed that they are interviewing other people. I was offered the job to the end of the season but I can't discuss the ins and out, just to say that I thought that what they were proposing was an insult."
Pleased Askey's got the job? Have your say.
