RESURGENT Macclesfield ripped apart Huddersfield Town to surely earn caretaker boss John Askey a full time contract.
They played by far the better football to delight their highest crowd of the season, thumping four goals past a supposedly superior side chasing promotion.
Matthew Tipton opened the scoring on 13 minutes after a weaving run from John Miles had created havoc in the Terriors defence, the former Oldham man blasting a bullet into the roof of the net.
John Miles added the second on 63 minutes running onto a pin point Chris Priest pass before checking inside Paul Scott and curling a neat shot to the far corner.
The third was Tiptons ninth goal in 11 games, a penalty kick that earned Nathan Clarke a red card after he muscled the former Oldham man to the floor, Tipton himself stepped up to blast a low shot inside the right post.
The icing was added onto the cake when Tipton delivered a pin point cross for Chris Priest to score the fourth in the 89th minute.
