Macclesfield Town

Preview: Macclesfield Town v Huddersfield Town

MACC caretaker boss John Askey may make changes from the side that drew 1-1 against Cambridge in the FA Cup.

On-loan Matt Carragher, available after being cup-tied, may return to the right flank against Huddersfield, with Danny Whitaker swapping to the left and Colin Little stepping down to the bench.

Askey may even choose to strengthen his defence, playing five at the back to counter the threat of 12-goal man Jonathan Stead.

That would give Steve Hitchen, who kept his composure when the side were reduced to 10 men in the Cup, a deserved chance to stake a long-term claim.

The game will see the return of former favourite Efe Sodje, who scored Macc's first league goal in 1997 and was a key member of Sammy McIlroy's promotion winning teams.

"I owe a lot to the fans at Macclesfield. They really helped me during my time at the club," he said.
