Macclesfield Town

Preview: Macclesfield Town v Scunthorpe United

JOHN ASKEY is hoping to bring in a left-sided Premiership forward to replace the suspended Colin Little for Macclesfield's home game against Scunthorpe.

The Moss Rose club appealed to the FA to rescind Little's straight red awarded in the draw at Hull City for flinging an elbow at Marc Joseph, but video evidence proved inconclusive.

Askey is also without centre-back Steve Macauley, so will have to choose between on-loan Rob Edwards, Michael Welch and Matt Haddrell for the berth alongside Macc's most improved player, Karl Munroe.

With the Irons' talisman big Steve Torpey suspended, Askey may opt for Welch rather than Edwards' or Haddrell's more physical style.

In-form Macc skipper Martin Carruthers may get a hot reception from the away fans, having turned his back on Glanford Park in the summer.

"Any reception he gets from the away fans will just make him more determined," said Askey.

LAST SEASON: Macclesfield 2 Scunthorpe 3

KEY OPPONENT: Peter Beagrie - gone are the acrobatics, but still a talent on the ball.
