KEITH Curle's Mansfield have had the most unpredictable start to the season of any club in the Football League.
They hammered Scunthorpe 5-0, but then lost 4-1 at Swansea.
The Jekyll and Hyde side, relegated from Division Two last year, as yet have not settled with both Iyseden Christie and Lee Williamson sent off in the South Wales shocker.
Christie however remains the danger man having scored 22 goals for struggling Orient last season before going to Field Mill on a free.
Macclesfield will have to find a replacement for Steve Macauley who bravely managed 26 minutes against Yeovil, having cracked two ribs the previous week against Bristol.
Matt Haddrell is still recovering from a virus, so Michael Welch will play at centre back with Karl Munroe in an inexperienced pairing.
David Smith is also doubtful, but manager Dave Moss has plenty of options in midfield with either Tommy Widdrington or Chris Priest standing by to deputise.
There will be a difficult choice between Colin Little and Matthew Tipton for the left-sided role, neither having been totally impressive in their alternate outings.
Moss said after his side had wiped the floor with Yeovil last weekend: "Hopefully we can now go on a run."
