Macclesfield v Oxford: preview

MACCLESFIELD'S walking wounded, who limped to defeat at Bury, now face a tough test at home against Oxford.

Dave Ridler (knee), Matty Tipton (hernia), Steve Hitchen (ankle) and Danny Whitaker (groin) will all have to battle against the pain to get the Silkmen's stop-start season back on the rails.

Kyle Lightbourne had mild concussion after Saturday and is extremely doubtful, while David Moss is hardly likely to consider Karl Munroe after calling his defending "naïve, dreadful and amateurish."

So Moss may have to choose between veteran John Askey and youngster David Eaton for the final berth, with Michael Welch likely to continue in midfield.

Draw specialists Oxford will be desperate to make amends for squandering a 2 - 0 lead at home to Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Ian Atkins may pit three forwards against Macc's three-man back line.

Last season: Macclesfield 0 Oxford 1.

Key opponent: New signing Chris Hackett will be hoping to make an impression up front, lining up with top scorer Andy Scott.
