Macclesfield Town

Macclesfield 3 Torquay 3

MACCLESFIELD Town bossed the first 70 minutes of this encounter but then went to sleep yet again conceding soft goals at the back.

Only a late strike from Danny Swailes earned them a point and Brian Horton a managerial lifeline.

Macc bossed the first half with Matthew Tipton hitting the crossbar and Danny Swailes seeing two headers saved by Nathan Abbey.

However a slip from Kevin McIntyre allowed Lee Mansell to slot home in the 22nd minute. Macc responded in the 41st minute when Abbey dropped a McIntyre free kick for David Morley to crash home from six yards.

They went in front in the 47th minute when Martin Bullock dipped his shoulder before curling a neat shot into the top corner.

However they then went to sleep allowing Lee Thorpe to head home a Lee Andrews cross for the equaliser before Jamie Ward thundered home a third at the near post in the 81st minute.

Swailes then pooped up deep in injury time when a Kevin McIntyre shot was blocked on the line for the centre back to hook home the equaliser.

Against Torquay, Macc showed a huge improvement upon previous home games. They more than matched promotion-chasing Torquay, and bossed large periods of the game.

Playing Lee in goalsome extra confidence to the back. Cut out the silly mistakes at the back and Macc could be a force to be reckoned with. Horton IN!
