PAUL HARSLEY kept his cool to grab an 89th minute equaliser and earn Macclesfield Town a vital point in their fight for League Two survival.
The Silkmen midfielder held his nerve from the penalty spot after substitute Kevin Townson was tripped in the area by Brian OéCallaghan. Harsleyés late strike saved Tommy Leeés blushes after the goalkeeperés error had lead to Notts Countyés opener in first-half injury time.
The Manchester United on-loan shot stopper dropped Chris Palmerés corner and Michael Edwards pounced to hand the home side an undeserved lead. Macclesfield should have been in control by then after wasting a host of glorious opportunities.
Fingertip
Goalkeeper Shaun Murphy produced a fingertip save to deny Matthew McNeil on five minutes before Marcus Richardson inexplicably headed over from four yards on 18 minutes.
Two minutes later Kevin McIntyre opted to pass when he should have shot, but Macc captain David Morley was required to clear off his own line when Steve Scoffham lobbed Lee. Defender Edwards then capitalised on Leeés mistake on the stroke of half time, but Richards again wasted a great chance to equalise when he scuffed his effort six minutes after the restart.
The visitors appeared to he heading for their twelfth away defeat until Harsley fired home his penalty and set up a vital clash with bottom club Torquay on Easter Monday.
WHAT did you think of Macclesfield's game? Have your say.
