Preview: Rushden & Diamonds v Macclesfield Town

Coca-Cola League Two
Nene Park
Saturday, February 25, 3pm

MANAGER Barry Hunter has described Rushden's next two games as 'the biggest in the club's history'.

Diamonds prop up the League Two table following last Saturday's 5-0 thrashing at Carlisle United, and have targeted the visits of Macclesfield and Grimsby as must-win matches.

The Nene Park outfit this week appointed former Nottingham Forest boss Paul Hart to assist Hunter as the club look to avoid relegation.

The Rushden manager is expected to ring the changes for the Silkmen fixture, and will put his faith in 17-year-old wonderkid Lee Tomlin. The teenage striker, who has yet to score a goal in 15 appearances, has been linked with several Premiership sides, including Chelsea and Arsenal, and is set to make his fourth start of the season as a replacement for Czech misfit Petr Mikolanda.

The Diamonds will also be without ever-present defender Phil Gulliver, who serves a one-match suspension.
