Parkin signs for Hull

HULL have signed Macclesfield striker Jon Parkin on an 18-month contract.

The burly 24-year-old has moved to the KC Stadium for an undisclosed fee and joins fellow newly-signed striker Darryl Duffy in contention for a place in the starting line-up for Saturday's visit of Crystal Palace.

Macclesfield manager Brian Horton paid tribute to Parkin's contribution for the Silkmen.

"As a manager you're always disappointed to see good players leave but Jon is going to a good club and it really is a brilliant move for him," he told the club's website.

"He's a great lad, influential both on the pitch and in the dressing room. He will be missed."

Great move for jon, I wish him all the best, but why does the fee have to be udisclosed, when all Macc town supporters are pulling together to raise money for fine.

I hope the rumoured transfer fee of around just 150k (not including the sell-on clause to york) is not true. If 'Dale can get 300k + add ons for Holt then it looks like our board have rushed into a panic sale (although im aware it was Jon who asked to leave).

Hull are in a divison higher and Forest and are not exactly the most wealthy club these days. Looks like the 'Dale board is a bit more savvy.

It was inevitable. Hill are a massive club going places. We are always going to have to sell players with only 2000 gates and a large wage bill. This doesnt change the fact we will have to carry on efforts to raise the 275,000 required to pay the FA as it only goes to make up the running costs.

The rest of the team will have to pull together and play more football now we have lost the route one option which got us out of trouble when we weren't playing particularly well. On Saturday's performance we will do it but we will need to be consistent and not give away such soft goals which undermine confidence.

I have just seen the other comments re the fee(which has been reopierted despite being decribed as undisclosed). The fact that Holt had a longer contract is a major factor whereas Jon had only six months to go and would have been able to move for free anyway. This substantially reduces the fee even though the player may be worth more.

I can't believe Big JP has gone! We should have kept him and got rid of Clyde Wijnhard - he's rubbish! Macc Town need BJP, without the "Big Guy" we'll struggle to stay up this season. Please Save Our Silkmen, because I am the only Brummy Silkman!!!
