The former Ipswich academy player was not about to waste his chance to score his first goal in league football, giving Bournemouth the lead in the 38th minute.
Macc manager David Moss was again cursing his luck in the 50th minute when Bournemouth keeper Jamie Ashdown made a brilliant double save, first to deny Matthew Tipton and then Darren Tinson both from close range.
But it was Bournemouth who dominated the closing stages and but for 2 full length saves from Macc keeper Steve Wilson the margin would have been greater.
First he flung himself wide to his right to stop a powerful drive from Connell, then he turned to his left hand side to stop a Jamie Hayter shot five minutes later.
Slow hand clapping echoed around the Moss as the crowd signalled their disapproval for yet another home defeat.
