BRIAN Horton remained upbeat despite Macclesfield hitting rock bottom after a hard-fought draw at fellow-strugglers Torquay United.

Paul Harsley’s superb 49th-minute strike looked to have earned the Silkmen a much-needed victory at Plainmoor.

But Alan Connell earned the Gulls a share of the spoils when he equalised in the 68th minute.

“We haven’t been playing badly and the picture looks a lot worse than it is,” said the Macc boss.
