Macclesfield Town 2 Boston United 2

MACCLESFIELD threw away a two-goal lead as Boston fought back to earn a share of the spoils at Moss Rose on Sunday.

Kevin McIntyre headed the Silkmen into a 21st-minute lead and the midfielder's cross was headed past his own goalkeeper by Ben Futcher to double Macc's advantage 10 minutes later.

But half-time substitute Brad Maylett pulled one back within three minutes of the restart and Noel Whelan, another replacement, fired the Pilgrims' level with a superb finish on 74 minutes.

Both sides could have won it late on, with Macc goalkeeper Alan Fettis producing fine saves to deny Julian Joachim and Maylett, while Silkmen's Kevin Townson twice went close in the dying moments.

I've just seen you poll on the main part of this website and I have to say that it is a total and utter joke.

No one was ever relegated in August and, in fact, Southend were in a similar situation as Macclesfield this time last season.

We are missing Jon Parkin, who with 26 goals last season would be a blow for any club in this division.

The club have a big offer on at the moment to encourage more people through the gates and all the local paper can do is imply that relegation could already be on the cards.
