MACCLESFIELD were brought back down to earth with a bump with defeat at the Vetch Field.

In what was a huge game for both the promotion-chasing clubs, two goals in the first half from Lee Thorpe and Paul Connor were enough to give Swansea a vital win.

Macclesfield's frustration was evident and a Jon Parkin tackle in the 81st minute saw him given a red card to complete a disappointing day for the Silkmen.
