Macclesfield Town 2 Bristol Rovers 1

HIGH flying Macclesfield recorded their sixth successive victory courtesy of a brilliant brace from master striker John Parkin.

After a frustrating first half which saw John Miles go closest with a low right foot drive, the 6ft 4in centre forward scored in injury time.

Dave Morley played a long ball forward for Sheron to place it into his path with Parkin burying from 10 yards.

However, Rovers equalised in the 55th minute when Alan Fettis could only palm a Steve Elliott free kick into the roof of his own net.

However, Parkin was not to be denied and in the 61st minute he turned neatly 25 yards out before lashing a right foot shot to the top corner.

He was then denied his hat-trick as John Anderson cleared off the line.

However! With a gate of just 2000, what are they doing in the Football League? Not brilliant support! Not a billiant future no matter what happens this season.

We're in the league on merit, and going really well. Well organised on and off the field is what counts, not the number of fans - at least the 2000 are die hards! Silkmen are going up with Brian and John.
