Macc's win didn't hoist them any higher but, the 12th-place Silkmen sit just two points off the play-offs, thanks to yet another fine strike by Ross Draper.
The hosts enjoyed territorial advantage early on but Macc keeper Jose Veiga was rarely in danger of breaking sweat, AJ Leitch-Smith's looping header being the closest Crewe came to a goal in the first half.
Macc grew stronger as the half progressed and a neat passing move ended with Draper receiving the ball 40 yards from goal. The ever-improving midfielder – who netted from the halfway line earlier in the season - took aim and thumped a low drive beyond Steve Phillips' right hand.
Although Lewis Chalmers was narrowly high with his drive early in the second half and Ben Tomlinson volleyed into the side netting, Macc rode their luck for most of the half.
Fifteen minutes from time Shaun Miller hit the foot of Veiga's post and the woodwork came to Macc's rescue again in a frantic finish to the match, Luke Murphy agonisingly close to an equaliser.
What is your verdict on the game? Have your say.

Macclesfield Town FC just get better and better. I've heard many comments from locals regarding this football club and unfortunately not all have been on the positive side. Maybe now, just maybe they will start to believe that Macclesfield Town are giving 100%, not only for themselves but also for the fans, for the supporters and for Macclesfield. Now, all the local people of this town have to do is to show their support at the ground. Get behind them and help the team push for a place in the top three. My bet is still looking good. Oh, best say hello to Deeaave' (Dave).
Best regards,
Hinckley Fan.
