Silkmen boss praises tired players

MACCLESFIELD boss Brian Horton was delighted after watching his side grab a dramatic last-minute winner against Bury.

The Silkmen manager expected a tough game following his side's midweek exerts at Meadow Lane - and he wasn't disappointed.

'Bury only lost at Scunthorpe late on and they beat Northampton,' said Horton. 'I knew it wasn't going to be easy.

'Bury can count themselves very unlucky because they played very well. They caught us on the break a few times.'

But Horton was proud of the way his side kept going until the final whistle. He added: 'We had a very tough game on Tuesday and they didn't, and towards the end my lads look shattered. It's a good six points.'

'In the first half, after the goal, we took charge. I said at half-time 'Just be patient because if we get an equaliser we will go on and win the game', and we did."

The experienced boss was also impressed with his two strikers. He said: 'You have to give Matty Tipton a great deal of credit for the goal. He could have been selfish and shot but he didn't and that is what being a great striker is all about.

'Twenty-one goals by the end of January cannot be argued with and he could have had another hat-trick. The volley from 35 yards was fantastic and then he had the one cleared off with a good header at the back post.'
