Preview: Rochdale v Macclesfield Town

Nationwide League Division Three
Saturday, October 30, 3pm

ROCHDALE will be hoping to bounce back against the Silkmen after a pride-wounding 5-1 defeat at Northampton Town last weekend.

Steve Parkin's side sit 21st in League Two with only two home wins since the start of the campaign, but like Macc, Dale seem to have had their fair share of bad luck with referees.

The controversial sending-off of Daryl Burgess proved to be the catalyst for a landslide of goals against Northampton - and manager Steve Parkin said after the game that his side do not seem to be getting the rub of the green.

"It's a terrible defeat, we defended poorly at times, but at the end of the day a lot of the game hinged on the referee's decisions.

"It's a sickening result, I'm sick for the supporters and I'm sick for everyone concerned with the club because yet again if there is a case to be answered with the referee's decision, then it's not necessarily cost us the game, but it's changed the face of it."

Parkin will be without experienced defender Burgess (suspended) and former Burnley winger Paul Weller for Saturday's game, and could recall striker Kevin Townson - who has been on loan at Scarborough.

Macc's only injury worry at time of going to press is with right-back Mark Bailey, who will have a scan on an ankle injury this week.

Expected Dale line-up: Edwards; Evans; Griffiths; Heald; Gallimore; Bertos; Clarke; Jones; Cooksey; Holt; Taino.
