The signing of former Manchester City striker Mike Sheron, has given Brian Horton extra options. Though the manager is not known for his tinkering, he could revert to a 3-4-3 formation, with wing backs Graham Potter and Mark Bailey moving up from the customary 5-3-2 formation, allowing Sheron to play in a front three.

Swansea narrowly missed the play-offs last season and after losing to Northampton on Saturday beat a sorry Rochdale at Spotland 2-0.

They will be missing last season's revelation Lee Trundle while Leon Hylton and Izzy Iriekepen are both doubtful.
