FORMER Manchester City striker Mike Sheron, signed last Thursday, will be eager to make a start for Macclesfield against Shrewsbury Town tonight.
But he looks like sitting this one out on the bench unless manager Brian Horton changes from 5-3-2 to a 4-3-3 formation, a switch he is unlikely to make after his side's 3-1 win against Orient on Saturday.
Matthew Tipton and John Parkin were on target in a fine start to the season and Horton said: "Parkin offers so much more with his sheer physical presence creating space for the others." The game should see the return of former Macclesfield skipper Darren Tinson who left the Moss Rose early last season after arguing with former manager David Moss.
Another former Macc stalwart, David Ridler, is set to line up alongside him for Jimmy Quinn's men.
After such a good start at the weekend, Horton will be keen for a quick follow-up against a team who made a disappointing return to League football when they lost to Lincoln on Saturday.
Last season: Different divisions
Key opponent: Luke Rodgers - how the Shrews hung onto the striker when they dropped out of the league is a mystery - a few defences will wish they hadn;t as the season progresses.
Prediction: Macclesfield 2 Shrewsbury 1
