Macclesfield Town

Bury v Macclesfield: Preview

MACCLESFIELD are looking to chalk up their first league win at Gigg Lane in their clash with rivals Bury.

Former Shakers defender Paul Morgan's tight hamstring means he is a doubt and another former Shaker, striker Matty Tipton, is struggling with a pulled calf.

Midfielders Ross Draper and Lee Bell and on-loan forward Ricky Sappleton are also injury doubts for the Silkmen.

Meanwhile, Bury boss Alan Knill wants his side to tighten up in defence after conceding three goals at Dagenham.

Knill said: "We need to bounce back as a team and I am looking for a reaction after a very disappointing result.

"I am not happy about the goals that we have been conceding and that has to stop. We have conceded about 30 goals and, if we want to be up there, we can't afford to be conceding so many."

"We were really strong defensively last season and we have to get back to basics. It is basic concentration levels where it matters."

Daniel Nardiello has been recalled by Blackpool and the Shakers will probably start with Ryan Lowe and Andy Morrell up front. And skipper Stephen Dawson is also likely to play, despite turning down a new, improved contract.

Knill said: "I think he will play. We are not blessed with an unbelievable squad and he has to play well if he wants to play at a higher level."
