MACCLESFIELD Town have signed Tommy Rooney, cousin of Everton's England international Wayne, from Tranmere Rovers.

The 18-year-old, a regular goalscorer at reserve and youth team level, impressed a trial game for the Silkmen.

Macc have also signed 18-year-old Everton youngster Joey Jones, a midfielder who has been at the Goodison Park Academy.
