MACCLESFIELD will claim they are owed some luck but two own goals in the first 45 minutes was more than they could have dreamed of.
They were gifted the lead on 16 minutes when Oxfords big John Ashton completely lost his bearings before burying a Paul Harsley corner in his own net with a bullet header.
The visitors midfield play-maker James Hunt then equalized for the visitors with a fabulous 25 yard volley before Jefferson Louis deflected a Matthew Tipton shot again past his own keeper.
Tipton is to dispute the own goal and if it is awarded in his favour it will make him Macclesfields all time top league scorer.
Macc might have extended their lead after the break, Paul Harsley hammering a close range drive against the angle before John Parkin slashed narrowly wide.
The win earned Macc another year of league football with Manager Brian Horton gaining 13 points from a possible 18.
