MACCLESFIELD, buoyed by a midweek success against Port Vale, will look to put one over on their former boss Sammy McIlroy at Morecambe.

The Shrimps manager led the Silkmen to the Football League 12 years ago and still enjoys reverential status among their fans.

His summer signings include Huddersfield Town loan pair Phil Jevons and Ian Craney and Exeter midfielder Emmanuel Panther. But Morecambe are still searching for their first win, having taken just one point from their first three games, so Macc could face quite a scrap.

With Nat Brown and Sean Hessey both still unavailable through injury, Macc manager Keith Alexander is likely to keep Shaun Brisley alongside Paul Morgan in the heart of the defence, with Hamza Bencherif continuing in midfield.

Teen starlet John Rooney, who sat out Tuesday's Vale success, should return.
