MACC boss Keith Alexander issued a hands-off warning to clubs eyeing up the prodigious talent of John Rooney after this impressive draw.

Wayne's 18-year-old brother nearly scored one of the goals of the decade with an audacious 80-yard drive from fully 25 yards inside his own half that flew just a foot over bar to leave Alexander purring.

"We are lucky to have him. He's only 18 and we'll be lucky to keep him, but I've already told a couple of clubs that if they want him they will have to pay. He's a very valuable asset to us."

After making 13 changes in the close season Alexander was delighted with his new-look side.

"We have some really good lads who want to play and who can play. They can all pass a ball, and they've have got the right attitude."

Macc twice hit the woodwork in the space of a minute in the first half when Shaun Brisley curled a header onto the crossbar, before Colin Daniel lashed a drive against the upright.

MACC: Brain 8, Brisley 7, Morgan 8 Bencherif 9, Tremarco 7, Bolland 7, Draper 7, Rooney 8 (Tipton 83 - 7), Wright 6, Daniel 7, Sinclair 7 (Reid 59 - 6).
