STAR MAN

PAUL MORGAN
: Man of the season by a country mile. Bury must have some fabulous young centre-backs to allow this maestro to leave. 8

JOHN BRAIN: Any keeper that concedes 77 goals in a single season can't be happy but, though there were some howlers, it could have been worse. 6

IZAK REID: Potentially the best player in the team with pace, defensive intelligence and a pin-point cross but often went AWOL and needs to show more heart. 7

AHMED DEEN: Sierra Leone left back who has not been retained after a less than mediocre campaign both going forward and in defence. 5

SEAN HESSEY: Captain Calamity, Hessey is lucky to have another year remaining on his contract and needs to cut out the mistakes. 5

LEE BELL: Industrious, tough midfield terrier, who needs a skilled playmaker at his side to complement his undoubted work-rate. 7

FRANCIS GREEN: Franny will be get glad to get out of Macc. Undoubtedly talented, his tendency to play the Prima Donna frustrated everyone, including boss Keith Alexander. 4

SIMON YEO: Smashed some early league goals in a golden pre-Christmas period but then went off the boil and has made the right decision to retire. 6

JAMIE TOLLEY : After reluctantly accepting reduced terms, his heart was never in the fight and endured a miserable campaign blighted by injury. 5

DANNY THOMAS: Skilful wide man with pace and ability but little end product both in terms of goals and assists. 5

JOHN ROONEY: Scored the goal of the season in vital win at Chester and has an innate talent but can get caught in possession in no man's land. 7

SHAUN BRISLEY: A teenager doing a man's job - this Macc lad was superb in the autumn and better again come spring, but out of his depth in the winter. 6

JAMES JENNINGS: Alexander's decision not to offer JJ new terms is the one mystery to the end of the season. An improving young player with a magnificent attitude. 7

MATTHEW FLYNN: What he lacks in ability he makes up for in determination and offered a new contract on the strength of his height and potential. 6

GARETH EVANS: Top scorer with 13 goals, he became the team's talisman and Alexander will be lucky if another club doesn't offer more tempting terms. 7

NAT BROWN: On loan from Wrexham, this journeyman played in defence, midfield and attack scoring his share of goals but surely better at the back. 7
