Macclesfield Town

Notts County 1 Macc 1

MACCLESFIELD Town hung on for a draw despite being reduced to 10 men with 25 minutes still on the clock.

Gareth Evans had just created the equaliser with a powerful shot that was spilled by giant keeper Russell Hoult into the path of Simon Yeo for his fifth of the season when he saw red.

He was dismissed for leaving his foot up as he challenged John Thompson.

Macc manager Keith Alexander was livid with the decision, but Thompson was stretchered off with a gash to his ankle and twisted knee ligaments.

Notts Countuy had taken the lead on 47 minutes when Delroy Facey thumped home a 15-yard drive from a narrow angle. Macc then twice cleared off the line as first Lee Bell and Izak Reid made desperate clearances.

Jamie Clapham then went on to crash a 20-yard drive off the cross bar as County dominated. Macc will be delighted to come away with a point but lose Evans for three games after only two games back from another suspension for a straight red.
