Macclesfield 4 Aldershot 2

MACCLESFIELD produced their most entertaining half of football in recent years against Aldershot and took the honours in a six-goal thriller.

They opened the scoring after 48 minutes when Danny Thomas pulled the ball back for Gareth Evans to clip home a sweet 12-yard drive.

But Aldershot equalised just three minutes later when Kirk Hudson brilliantly controlled a 15-yard volley.

Thomas then scored two goals in four minutes from exactly the same spot. His first, a left-foot drive from 22 yards out, took a deflection before creeping under Nicky Bull.

But his second attempt shortly after needed no assistance as it went in at the near post.

Aldershot got back in the game on 64 minutes when Danny Hylton bobbled a shot over Jon Brain, and Izak Reid could only slice his attempted clearance into the roof of the net.

Macc sealed the game on 84 minutes when Francis Green powered home a firm downward header.
