After a stunning 2-0 victory over Championship side Blackpool, the Silkmen go into the hat with all the Premier League clubs not in Europe as well as Manchester City.
Now Alexander is hoping for a second round fixture to whet the appetite of the Macc fans.
“I’d like one of the big teams, someone we can make as much money from as possible because let’s face it, we’re not going to win it,” he said.
The Macc chief was also delighted with his players’ response after the 4-0 drubbing to Shrewsbury Town on the opening day of the league season.
Alexander said: “After Saturday’s performance, we had words, first on Sunday and then on Monday and the players have worked very hard.
“I’ll do well to keep Shaun Brisley, he’s a very good player.” Tweet
