Macclesfield Town

Macclesfield 2 Shrewsbury 1

MACCLESFIELD Town recorded their first home win since November 6 courtesy of two stunning late strikes.

First former Shrewsbury captain Jamie Tolley answered his mockers in the away stands with a powerful 20 yard volley.

Three minutes later Francis Green thumped home his second goal in two games and his tenth of the campaign with a thundering 25 yard drive from a narrow angle.

Shrewsbury had taken the lead in the 64th minute when Mark Pugh threaded the ball past Sean Hessey for Dave Hibbert to fire home a clinical finish from 15 yards.

Once again Macclesfield had keeper Jon Brain to thank for keeping them in the game with a string of telling saves.

In the third minute he tipped a Pugh drive over the bar then on the hour he clawed wide another shot from the opposition’s playmaker.
