MACCLESFIELD Town's pre-season friendly at Vauxhall Motors, due to be played next Monday, has been cancelled following a request by new boss Ian Brightwell.

Chief executive Patrick Nelson explained: "Ian and I felt we had over-stretched ourselves with seven games in 19 days."

Macc's first pre-season game will now take place on Friday, July 20, when Stoke City visit the Moss Rose.
