Macclesfield Town

Rochdale 5 Macclesfield 0

TOWN are still perilously close the relegation zone after Paul Ince's boys took a hammering at Spotland in their local derby with Rochdale.

Dale strikers Glenn Murray and Chris Dagnall are not the types to look a gift horse in the mouth and presented by a shambolic Macclesfield defence they made hay in the April sunshine.

Dagnall bagged a first half hat-trick, his first after just 20 minutes following up after keeper Tommy Lee tipped his penalty onto the post, produced a great finish to a Murray pass on 40 minutes and then following comic cutz defending rolled in a third on the stroke of half time.

Another dreadful error resulted in a simple Murray finish two minutes into the second period and with Macclesfield in disarray Murray produced a perfect curling finish from 20 yards on the hour to complete a rout that would have been much worse without the efforts of Silkmen keeper Tommy Lee.

What did you think? Have your say.
