Preview: Mansfield v Macclesfield

MACCLESFIELD must conquer the collywobbles if they are to win their fight for Football League survival, according to manager Paul Ince.

The latest stage in the Silkmen's remarkable bid for safety will be played out at Mansfield.

But Macc have gone four League Two games without a win now, and Ince is concerned that nerves are creeping in as the games start to run out.

"We have no-one to fear, certainly not Mansfield," Ince said. "But we must be bold and brave, and impose ourselves on the opposition. Recently we have been getting jittery and that has got to stop."

Ince will be without two key midfield men tonight in Jamie Tolley and Alan Navarro, who may miss the rest of the season after a double hernia operation.

This may give new signing Adam Murray a chance to impress after his move from Torquay, though youngster Ashan Holgate - another Ince capture - impressed with his athleticism after coming on as a sub against Bury last Saturday.

Matthew Tipton should return up-front after being sidelined against Bury under the terms of his loan move from the Shakers. He is likely to replace target man Matty McNeil, who looked badly off the pace at Gigg Lane.

Mansfield will be without Jake Buxton, former City youngster Jonathan D'Laryea and Callum Lloyd. Danny Reet, Michael Boulding and Gareth Jellyman are also doubtful.

If Macc do manage to complete their Houdini-style escape from the drop this season, then they will owe a debt of gratitude to penalty king Kevin McIntyre.

McIntyre has bagged a remarkable nine out of nine spot kicks this season, including a last-gasp equaliser at Gigg Lane last weekend.

Last season: Mansfield 1 Macc 1

Key opponent: Barry Conlon - Well-travelled striker has 11 goals to his name this season and scored last time out

Prediction: Mansfield 1 Macc 2 - Macc could well spring a surprise and are due a win
