BURY'S `reward' for their FA Cup first round exit against Rochdale is a re-arranged trip to one-time Division Three leaders Hull City.

And after the poor performance at Macclesfield last Saturday, the Shakers may wish they hadn't brought forward this game from next March.

At least it's a quick opportunity for Andy Preece's team to get the 1-0 defeat at Moss Rose out of their system.

A repeat of that display and Bury could be on the wrong end of a heavier beating.

Good account

However, the Shakers gave a good account of themselves against the Tigers at Gigg Lane earlier this season and earned a creditable 0-0 draw.

There are no major new injuries or suspensions to worry Preece.

Hull have slipped themselves in recent weeks including a 3-1 defeat against Huddersfield Town last Saturday, so Peter Taylor will be looking for the right response from his side.

Bury's promising midfielder Simon Whaley has undergone successful knee surgery to repair cartilage damage and may be able to return to training in the next few weeks.

More good news for the Shakers is that Harpal Singh, recovering from a shoulder reconstruction, will return next week to begin light training.
