After victories over Kidderminster and Lincoln City, the Shakers are in confident mood.
In contrast, Southend have lost their last four games since winning on the opening day of the season. And they haven't scored in the last three.
Player-manager Andy Preece is expected to name an unchanged starting line up, although Lee Connell could come into contention if newcomer Phil Charnock shows a reaction to playing twice in three days.
David Nugent will also keep his place if Chris Porter hasn't recovered in time from a sprained ankle.
"Even though we've won our last two games, there are still plenty of things we have to work on," says Preece.
"However, at least we've given ourselves something to build on with those last two results."
