Bury

Bury 1 Carlisle United 1

Bury's poor home form could cost them a play-off place as Carlisle snatched a late equaliser to boost their chances of avoiding the drop to the Nationwide Conference.

The Shakers were caught out 14 minutes from time when Irishman Richie Foran volleyed a sweet left foot shot past Glynn Garner.

Foran's ninth of the season leaves the Shakers with only one victory from their last five outings at Gigg Lane.

And that's not going to gain Andy Preece's side a play-off position, let along automatic promotion.

The home team dominated most of the first half and were good value for their 33rd minute lead given them by teenage marksman David Nugent.

The 17-year-old Scouser headed in after Colin Cramb flicked on a George Clegg cross.

But LDV Vans Trophy finalists Carlisle closed the half on top and were unlucky when Peter Kelly headed against the bar.

Carlisle appealed in vain for a penalty when the ball bounced back into play.

In the second half Carlisle had plenty of possession without threatening to get back on terms.

However, Foran came up with a vital point saver as he drove in angled left foot chance as Bury allowed him too much space.
