The 19-year-old has told the club he prefers to keep his options open until the summer.
A Shakers' spokesman said: "The club have held numerous meetings with the player and his agent and are disappointed, as the player has always indicated that he wanted to stay to develop and felt that he was in the right place to further his career.
"We are very disappointed over the stance made by the player's agent and his subsequent advice to the player."
Meanwhile, last Saturday's postponed game with Shrewsbury Town has been re-arranged for Tuesday, April 3 (7:45pm).
