And now the Shakers boss faces a nervous final day of the transfer window after Ipswich made a bid for his leading scorer Andy Bishop.
The Shakers looked set for their first win since Christmas after outplaying Hereford for the first hour last night.
Dave Challinor had already headed a great chance over when his long throw was scrambled in by Richie Baker in the 29th minute.
That half-time lead was doubled in the 57th minute when Bishop's shot was deflected to Glynn Hurst, whose lob over the keeper was turned into his own net by Hereford defender Simon Travis.
But the visitors then stepped up a gear, with Alan Connell seeing a goal ruled out for offside just moments before Steve Guinan's cross-shot went in via a Nicky Adams deflection in the 63rd minute.
Bury keeper Andy Warrington then made good saves to keep out a Connell shot and a Guinan header.
But he could do nothing about Hereford's equaliser 12 minutes from the end. Substitute Andy Williams had only been on the pitch for three minutes when he unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards.
