BURY'S appeal against their expulsion from the FA Cup has been rejected by the Football Association.
The Shakers were thrown out of the tournament after fielding on-loan Hartlepool's Stephen Turnbull in the 3-1 second round replay win over Chester despite the midfielder being ineligible.
Following a hearing on Thursday, their appeal against the decision was rejected.
Their League Two rivals Chester will now face Championship side Ipswich in the third round.

If your club infringe FA rules then you deserve to be thrown out of the competition TOGH!!!!!! by the way I'm a CITY fan! TOGH and GOOD LUCK TO CHESTER!!!!
Have the FA Cup rules changed since 1977? Kettering were playing with an ineligible player v Tilbury. They had to play the tie again. How is this different? They appear to have been victimised for being honest.
Please can everybody email the FA to register their feelings on this decision. I have no hard feelings towards Chester but did find it odd that their manager, unless he was misquoted, said that it was the right decision, why say that? It would be a nice gesture for Chester to forward their Round Two 'winnings' to Bury FC. As I understand it, the game is void and the goals will be removed from the scorers totals. Can we now be advised why we cannot get a refund on the entrance fee? Why is this not void, so I can redirect it in full to Bury FC. Answers on a postcard to Brian Barwick.
Chrissake it's a bitter blue owning up to being a City fan! Must have b*lls of brass considering the current shambles at MCFC! A rare sight indeed, the crowing bitter bluebird........

I am a City fan but I have got a bit of a soft spot for Bury and I have to say I am disgusted with the decision. I feel really sorry for you lot. Would the FA have acted like that if it had been Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal or anyone like that? NO. Absolutely disgusting. Leeds got a fine for the same thing and you get expulsion! Terrible. Good luck for the rest of the season. I hope this doesn't have a detrimental effect on the team.
