Bury booted out of FA Cup

BURY have been expelled from the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player.

The League Two club have been penalised after Stephen Turnbull, currently on loan at Gigg Lane from Hartlepool, was included in their side for the second-round replay against Chester on December 12.

Bury selected Turnbull without receiving the required permission from Hartlepool and lodging that permission with the Football Association - also failing to comply with the required timescales for registration of players for the competition.

Chester have now been reinstated in the competition and are scheduled to face Coca-Cola Championship side Ipswich in January's third round, subject to appeal from the Shakers.

City will also receive the prize fund payment due to second round winners.

If Bury elect to appeal, a hearing will be held on December 28.

This is stupid bury won fare and square.
Fifa didnt kick russia out of the world cup after they played wales in there qualifying play off game .
Lets hope that now they have done this to BFC they stick to the rules if it happens to a bigger club.
Me doubt it some how

Diabolical decision and typical of the impotent FA to seek vengeance on a small club. I wonder how much thought they gave to the club's supporters during the matter as let's face it, this affects us more than anyone else. Note to the FA - sooner or later this 'offence' will happen again and possibly to a bigger club - you have now set a precedent - can we really imagine Man U, Liverpool or Chelsea getting thrown out-I doubt it.

it's an admin error - not the fans or players fault, FA should look to punish the admin side of the club and not us, the fans.
Firstly, this IS somebody's fault and that somebody should get the hell out of BuryFC as we had same problem last season which could have seen us relegated out of the Football League. Can I just ask that if the result is now void do all the Bury FC loyal fans who travelled to Chester get reimbursed their expenses and entrance fee? At least let's get something out of this fiasco.

But you see, fed up of "radcliife", they didn't win "fare and square". They broke the rules. Just like last year. Whether a donkey or a Drogba, an eligible player will remain exactly that. A ringer fielded by rulebreakers. Can I have my tenner back that I threw into one of those buckets at Old Trafford a few years back? Cheats.

hi john, hi fred... what on earth are you going on about...suggest you concentrate on your super blue army and their 'loyal' supporters who we all saw sneaking out with 10 minutes to go at Gigg Lane last week. Oh and where was your banner you had last year? Oh, the cameras werent there, perhaps that explains it. One last question, how many fans did you have at Gigg, was it 5000? og and take you useless blogs somewhere else.

You had your warning last season. Very amateurish behaviour from a very amateurish club!!!!!!!!!! Stop crying about it and relise that you broke competition rules and were therefore thrown out of the competition!!!! End of story!!
