BURY slipped to a third successive League Two defeat as leaders Walsall struck twice in the last 15 minutes.
And to add injury to insult on-loan keeper Andy Warrington limped off late on with a leg problem.
With no keeper on the bench 12-goal leading marksman Andy Bishop, a former Walsall trainee, replaced the Doncaster goalie for the final five minutes.
Warrington, Bury's fifth keeper of the season, had earlier pulled off two fantastic saves to deny Martin Butler.
However, it certainly wasn't against the run of play when Paul Scott's second goal in three games put the hard-working Shakers in front.
Smashed
Tom Kennedy's corner fell to the defender at the far post and he smashed the ball home from close range.
Bishop then had a match-clinching header saved by Clayton Ince before the late drama.
A goalmouth scramble in the 75th minute led to Ian Roper claiming the goal though it took the intervention of a substitute linesman to award the equaliser.
Referee Jon Moss was about to award Bury a free-kick until he spotted Mo Matadar flagging the ball had gone over the goalline.
Then with Warrington limping badly, substitute Hector Sam headed in an 85th minute winner.
There was still time for Bishop to come upfield to take a 20-yard free-kick but the visiting wall did its job.
What is your verdict on the performance? Have your say.
